A hero is someone that saves the day, or makes a person better. A twisted hero does the same thing, however, their heroic actions are not as obvious. Om from Our Twisted Hero could be considered a twisted hero. Throughout the novel, Om was depicted as a vicious dictator that nobody had ever challenged. When Han moved to this school, however, he was keen to notice all of Om’s flaws, and was the first one to challenge his rule.

The surveys taken within the publication lack insight, and only prove to reinforce stigmas and stereotypes about the homeless, therefore canceling out my claim. For example, “...” The source is over 10 years old, leaving the data outdated and subject to alteration. The logos found within the piece help to prove the vast importance and emergence of the issue. It is widespread.
There are more than 500,000 homeless people in America (Johnson). There are many reasons and causes for people to end up living this way, but the biggest cause is tragic life events, for like loss of loved ones, job loss, domestic violence, divorce, and family disputes. Other reasons for homelessness are depression, untreated mental illness, PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), and physical disabilities ("Top Causes of Homelessness in America."). Many people see homelessness as a bad thing and an issue, but it does serve a purpose in society. Homelessness can be seen in many different ways.
Apathy. Although there are circumstances that cause people to be homeless such as the loss of a job or addiction, the main reason is that citizens feel apathetic towards the homeless. Seeing homeless people on the streets has become so common that people are not impacted by the hardships a homeless person is clearly facing. Beggars have become invisible and it is nearly impossible for the homeless to regain a life of normalcy without the help of others. It is typically taught that when you see a homeless person you should ignore them, walk away, or lock your doors if you are in a car.
Homeless In “Homeless” written by Anna Quildlen, she writes about a woman—homeless—that she met named Ann passing through the Port Authority terminal. While Quildlen is convince that the shelter is an alternative for homeless to somewhere to stay, instead of living on the street or any bus station, Ann explains that shelter cannot replace the impression of a real home. Personally, I do not like and absolutely did not enjoy the concept and the message that the essay was trying to portray. The essay was well written, however; I found it deeply delicate and societally manipulated.
The social issue that I picked is homelessness. Homelessness is a real issue, even if we don’t always see it. Homelessness doesn’t just mean you don’t have a roof over your head, it means you don’t have food, a good education, a healthy lifestyle, or a warm place to sleep every night. Some people don’t think very highly about homeless people, they think that it's their fault that they are where they are in life. Homelessness is going to end up becoming a bigger problem.

There are 18,000 homeless people in Memphis on any given day (according to Pat Morgan). Homeless is when a person without a home, and therefore typically living on the streets. Some are disabled and unable to work.
For example, we do not want to keep the homeless on the streets as we raise the money to help them, so we need a solution. Of course there are many homeless shelters around local communities, but they sometimes do not accommodate everyone. It is usually first come, first served. Therefore, a lot of people may be locked out of the shelter, forced to sleep on the cold pavements until the next day.

The reader should have a better understanding some of the major causes of homelessness, job barriers, where are the support systems? How to build self-worth after homelessness?
One of the foremost social issues in the United States has been homelessness. Homelessness often overlap between poverty and unemployment. Annually, an estimate of 2.3 and 3.5 million individuals experienced homelessness. “Although, difficult to measurement, it appears that more people- especially families- are becoming homeless, sleeping in shelter, living in their cars, and taking up residence in tent communities” (). Sanna () article address issues of homelessness along with it’s relations to unemployment and poverty.
Homelessness is a complex social issue with a variety of economic and social factors such as poverty, lack of affordable housing, physical and mental health, addictions, and community/family breakdowns. Homelessness has increased its number by at least a 1% since last year, reached nearly 554,000 people who are living in harsh conditions. The government and its policies/bans only harm the homeless instead of being beneficial to them. With the “City wide bans on camping in public have increased [along with the]… city wide bans on sleeping in public…, sitting or lying down in particular places… [and,] bands on sleeping in vehicles have [all] increased”(Wiltz).
The issue of homelessness in America has been evident since the early 1600’s. Across the country men, women and children spend their nights on the streets not knowing when or if they will ever find a permanent home. States and federal officials or city councils have tried to alleviate or at least reduce the number of homeless over the last several decades at a city, state or national level but it continues to be an ongoing problem. There is a multitude of factors that account for the growing homeless population that affects each state in the country differently. Though there are many contributing factors that contribute to the amount of people living on the street at any given night in the U.S.
Over 200 000 Canadians are forced to sleep on the streets each year due to homelessness. Many people are living on the streets due to poverty, high unemployment rates, and undiagnosed mental illnesses. Poverty has been proven the highest cause of homelessness. Without enough money to pay rent, people are kicked out of their homes and forced onto the streets. In addition, as income levels decrease it is an effect of unemployment rates increasing.
Data and Analysis My main focuses were on the types of people walking about (e.g. I observed homeless people walking with shopping carts), the amount of maintenance (trash piling where trash cans should be), and the surrounding structures. This allowed me to see a general demographic of people and the present economic class . From my observations, the streets are not well-cared for, having uneven pavement and depressions. Graffiti is also a prominent feature and is all over buildings, ATM machines, signposts, parking meters--almost any available flat surface.
