My essay will be about the homeless problem in America and the experiences of homeless individuals. I will show you what has bein done about the issue and what has not bein done about the issue. I will explain to you why we must resolve this issue sooner than later to slow down and prevent the homeless rates from getting even higher. Homelessness does not only affect the homeless, but it also affects those that are close to becoming homeless and are currently struggling to try and keep their homes. I will show you examples of just what has been said about homelessness and why it’s wrong and we must change the way we think about homelessness. “People choose to be homeless, and they want to stay homeless.” People make bad decisions in life and things can get out of control in their life. We cannot blame them because it covers up the real problem that is yet to be resolved. “If we supply housing for these people, they will continue to be homeless. They will never want to get off the streets.” We cannot prove that this will be a problem as there are multiple varied factors in homelessness. Some of these people cannot live in a home because of poverty and the lack of affordable housing. In many ways, this could be more beneficial to lower the homeless population. “Why should I worry about the homeless? I do not want my taxes to go to these lazy people.” Homelessness does not only affect the individual, but it also affects the economy. I have collected data on what the government is doing to help battle homelessness. I investigated what other people/Organizations are doing to battle poverty and prevent people from becoming homeless. I have looked at official government websites and credible news sources. I’ve looked at surveys about what people think can be done to help and bills that have been brought up to the higher courts to help those in need. This data has helped my evidence appear stronger and has persuaded the reader into recognizing that homelessness is a big issue and that we must act fast to help everyone in financial
