Is the medical system one of the main causes of homelessness in the United States? Medical debts lead to bankruptcy as well as many evictions throughout the United States. It causes many U.S. citizens to fall into poverty, homelessness, and hunger. Medical bills are too expensive for U.S citizens to pay off which leads to many of said citizens filing for bankruptcy. Even worse, in some cases medical bills put people at risk of eviction due to being unable to pay said bills, leading to homelessness which leads to poverty and hunger. Starting a petition is completely legal as it’s a U.S citizens right to do so. Not only is it legal it is completely free, so that means any United States citizen can advocate for free health care for every United States citizen. The United States also happens to be one of the most successful countries in the world. Which therefore it is easier for the United States to create better and affordable health care plan. The United States could set a meeting talking about the medical debt problem and can set a new and improved medical care plan. Although, it would take some time it would benefit the citizens of the United States. Petitions could be held at accessible areas where there would be no problems getting to. Petitioning and voting also happens to be the most peaceful way to get a message across and to show people that the cause you’re petitioning for is important and that other people would like to hear about it and learn more about it. The more attention the petition gets the more inclined the United States government would be to do something about the problem and the more the government would want to fund the cause. Meaning families with lower income get charged less monthly. Then families with higher incomes pay more. Another thing that would help homelessness caused by medical debt would be to have more taxpayer money go into medical-related expenses as it would help people not have to pay as much when it comes to the medical bills. Also, without medical insurance people are more prone to get injured and suffer getting hurt for example, Floridians even with Obamacare still have no health insurance. A survey says that Miami ranks high in having one of the highest populations without health insurance, Miami also ranks very low for health insurance coverage. According to a survey medical debt has become a vital factor in people becoming homeless. (Lipcomb 2017). Most Floridians walk around uninsured and by chance they get hurt the medical bills that come with the injury will stack up and leave the Floridians with a hefty medical bill. Which could lead to them losing their homes. Floridians led the population of the uninsured, but there are many more United states citizens that go uninsured. Not all families in the United States could afford health care or pay off heavy medical debt and it’s unfair to those who can’t as when they get hurt it hits them harder than it would to someone who could afford medical insurance and could pay those medical bills, as they are able to recover
