The Vietnam War was a war the United States got involve on in order to prevent the spread of communism. Although at first the war seem like another ordinary war it turn out not to be an ordinary war, but in fact one of the hardest war the United Sates had to fight. American troops were not prepared to experience the hot humid climate and terrain of the region, the mines, the underground tunnels and the American tactics were weak.
Vietnam is located in the hot humid tropic in the South of China. Vietnam was also affected by monsoon. The monsoon season started in March and wouldn’t stop raining for months. Dropping tons of gallons of rain on American soldiers, who were not used to such amounts. With all that rain, it ended up flooding the path that U.S soldier took. Making walking hard, with all the mud that sometimes would be as high as the waist of a soldier. Exhausting the soldiers quickly. The North Vietnamese forces made extensive use of a variety of homemade booby traps, which was the cause of most injuries to soldiers. Although the Vietcong used smaller bombs than the US, they were more effective. Most of the booby traps did not caused extreme injuries. They were only meant to blow toes off and causes very painful wounds. By doing this, it will make the US troops slow down and eventually run out of soldiers. The forests also contribute to most of the war. Most of the ambushes happen inside the forest, making it hard for U.S troops to get supplies and ammo. The Vietcong also were hard to spot, due to their dark colors. This made though for American troops to successfully gain
