There is a saying about honor that goes “Honor isn't about making the right choices. It's about dealing with the consequences.” Honor can be seen all throughout literature works: The Wave by Todd Strasser, “Charge of the Light Brigade” by Tennyson, and Much Ado About Nothing by Shakespeare. The Wave by Todd Strasser is about a classroom history experiment that gets out of hand causing history to repeat itself. “Charge of the Light Brigade” by Tennyson is about British soldiers going off to fight a battle they have no chance of winning. Lastly, Much Ado About Nothing by Shakespeare is a play that shows how deception can affect people's lives and sometimes ruin them. First off, The Wave mainly took place in a school atmosphere. Just like at the beginning of The Wave, students don't always listen to their teacher or fully pay attention, but as The Wave began to take affect students began to listen and pay attention in class (showing the development of honor). As The Wave spread, so did honor but dishonor spread to; the students that honored The Wave were allowed to go to things like football games, but the students that didn’t honor The wave were excluded. Secondly, “Charge of the Light Brigade” took place at valley of Death but overall it was a military setting. In the military, soldiers are suppose to honor their superiors orders and do them without question. In the “Charge of the Light Brigade” you can see the British soldiers honor their leader’s orders and fought a battle they knew they wouldn’t win because that's what you do in the military. Lastly, Much Ado About Nothing took place during the Elizabethan era. In that era honor played a big role in your life and dishonor could ruin it. When it was thought that Hero had been sleeping with Borachio Claudio could marry her because it would bring dishonor upon him and make him a cuckold. Going off that, when Claudio and Don Pedro made the accusation that Hero was sleeping with another everyone believed them with no evidence because they were honorable (and male). This accusation brought dishonor upon Hero and her father and because of this they ( Hero and her father) thought it would be better if she was dead because then should could being no more dishonor upon them. The school atmosphere in The Wave, the military setting of “Charge of the Light Brigade”, and Much Ado About Nothing taking place in the Elizabethan era all show how the theme of honor was developed throughout those works by their
