People are slaughtered for making choices that are deemed to be damaging family reputation by usual a male figure. Honor killings, like that described in Chronicle of a Death Foretold, are still happening in the world today. Honor killing is not an abnormal in Pakistan where a father murdered his daughter for a petty reason. At the age of fifteen a girl was killed because ¨… turned to look at a boy who drove by on a motorcycle, and he told her it was wrong.¨(Ritz), but in her defense her parents say, “It was her destiny to die this way.”(Ritz) In Pakistan ¨...women are often killed for marrying or having a relationship not approved...¨(Ritz) by family.
