It all started in 1981, NYC brought people to begin selling hot dogs. These brought people selling these ‘dogs’ from left to right, they kept these ‘dogs’ warm with portable hot water tanks. To get attention, they’d usually shout a short nickname they came up with that brought a small sarcasm in the name, "They're red hot” as the shouts carried on, the sells went high out of the door. They mainly used this phrase due to the color and warmth of the dog. This being carried on as a large popularity, it lead to NY journals. Tad Dorgan was well apart of this, taking in the scene, this inspired Tad to draw a picture of the hotdogs nestled in warm rolls. This is most likely what we call today, the hotdog bun. He had some time to think about a name for the new picture, as long as this took he finally labeled the picture as the "hot dog!" This picture led to becoming a cartoon, the cartoon led to a success spreading the term "hot dog" and slowly but surely it gained quite a reputation. However, it's been tough for people from past history to find this cartoon that put a start to such success, this was because of Dorgan's huge artwork.
