According to Save a life’s Facebook page, in Los Angeles alone there are 200 Pit Bulls killed every day, making it 1,400 killed a week and 72,800 killed a year just in Los Angeles alone (Save a Life, 2012)! If my solution of promoting education and training for Pit Bull owners and their dogs were to be enforced the number of Pit Bulls killed would decrease sufficiently. This would be the case because all Pit Bull owners would be held responsible for educating themselves on the breed before adopting a Pit Bull and properly training their Pit Bull throughout its life in their family with the proper tactics and socialization skills. After a few years of continuous work by Pit Bull advocates and the dogs’ owners, there would be a noticeable change in how the world and society views Pit Bulls. News Daily published a story about how a stray Pit Bull saved a woman in Georgia and was stabbed five times in the process (Blankinger K. 2016). If the media continues to expose these heroic stories of Pit Bulls and didn’t have such a closed-minded view of them as a breed, more people would be able to see all the good things that Pit Bulls do every day. Pit Bulls would no longer be associated with gangs, drug dealers and dog fighting anymore due to their new social status. These things would begin to fade away due to dogs themselves being trained and socialized.
