On February 12, 1809 Abraham Lincoln was born in Hodgenville, Kentucky. Abraham Lincoln had three main impacts during his time being the President. He said slaves in the south were free which helped keep the union together. He said that slavery was wrong and he wanted all Americans to decide on each state. Abraham issued the Emancipation Proclamation. It ended the slavery began the freedom of slaves. Abraham’s second impact was when he was the first to sign the Homestead Act for civil rights. This allowed poor people to obtain land. The third impact was his speech, the Gettysburg Address. President Lincoln is known for ending slavery, signing the Homestead Act, and giving a speech known as the Gettysburg Address.
