Betrayed or bad luck? When two families and a single man get captured by the Nazis while in hiding, we try to wonder how the Nazis find them. Well this happened to the family and friends of Anne Frank. Anne Frank and her family were living life normally in Germany like having a house, a dog, and a room, but something happened out of the ordinary. One day when Adolf Hitler came to power all the Jews in Germany were all discriminated against by everyone. So when Hitler didn't like the Jews he decided to set up labor and concentration camps to kill or put the Jews to work. The note about the Nazis came from a member from a jewish council in the city Anne Frank was hiding in. According to Pieter van Twisk, a journalist in the Dutch national archives, it explains how a jewish person gave the nazis a piece of paper to tell where the jews are hiding(Meilan Solly, smart news). This shows how the Nazis found out about the hiding place the Franks, Van pels, and Mr. Dussel were hiding in and why the Nazis went to the specific building the jews were hiding in. To add, the jewish Council gave the Nazis the note because the member who had all the addresses on the piece of paper got a threat from the Nazis explaining that they were going to send their family to the camps. Dussel got betrayed because the person who had the addresses on the note was because of a man named Arnold Van Den Berg. This man was the man who ratted out who was living in the secret annex. According to information by the Frank house it explains how during the cold case team interview Arnold Van Den Berg shared a list of addresses where people were hiding from the Nazis (Anne Frank house, statement).
