Susan B Anthony is not just a lady whose face was put on a coin. She was a courageous woman felt strongly about social reform, especially woman’s rights, temperance and abolishing slavery. She spent her whole life helping others and fighting for her beliefs. Her ideals consumed her personal life, but had long lasting effects on society, even after her death.

It has been said that no book other than the Bible has had a greater effect on Western society than Charles Darwin's Origin of Species. Darwin was famous for his theories of evolution and natural selection, which became known as Darwinism. Today evolution is known as the "changing of simple life forms to higher life forms as theorized by Darwin." (1). Darwin used the word "evolution" for the first time to discuss the development of change and adaptation within a species rather than the individual.
Nonetheless, there are pieces of evidence that supports his theory as a whole, including transitional fossils, which connects gaps from one species to the next in the large “tree of life.” Darwin’s Theory of Evolution by natural selection “explains both the unity and diversity of life on Earth, how all organisms share a common ancestor, and how species adapt to various habitats and ways of life” (Mader 262). Many of Darwin’s conclusions are supported by new findings, such as the finches he found in the Galapagos Islands and how they adapted to the lifestyle of the tropical climate. Some of Darwin’s influencers were Charles Lyell, Thomas Malthus, and Gregor Mendel, who familiarized him with geology, proposed that the earth was eons of years old, introduced the idea of competition between organisms, and how it affects survival and reproducing, and showed that traits are inherited. Using his observations and scientific influences, Darwin formulated his hypothesis of the Theory of Natural Selection, which was that organisms most adapted to their environment would survive to the next generation and pass on their traits. Natural selection is any external factor that regulates population size. The blueprint for this theory was hereditary variation combined with the struggle for survival through competition would result in the survival of the fittest by natural selection. Darwin attempted to explain natural selection through breeding experiments with pigeons, and recorded other results from breeders of different animals.
If evolution was a true event that happened, there should be many transitional species today that scientists could study. Today scientists don’t have any live animals that are thought to be a transitional species that is going to evolve into something else. With similar species thought to come from a common ancestor, all traits of one of the species should be found in the other species in about the same area. There are many cases where two species have many things in common, but the two species also have some very distinct characteristics that are unbridgeable between the two. This means that there had to have been different ancestors that had things about them that kept them from having a common
