Fuel efficiency
On January 29 1886, Karl Benz patented his plans for the Motorwagen which is by most historians considered the first modern car. The Motorwagen was built by Karl Benz and contain the first stationary gasoline engine; Benz’s engine created approximately 0.75 horsepower. The vehicle’s chassis and the engine were both mate to form a single unit. The Benz Patent Motorwagen was the start for the first car and began the automotive industry, it was the transition from an horse carriages to a new era of the automobile. However the Benz Patent Motorwagen was not the first Automobile that honor goes to the Francois Isaac de Rivaz a French inventor who created the first Automobile with an internal combustion engine. Unlike the Benz Patent Motorwagen , De Rivaz’s automobile was powered by hydrogen. Although these first cars were produced they did not sell most to an extent of the mass production. In 1903 Henry Ford founded the Ford Motor Company and began to produce its first car, the Model T which began the rise of the modern automotive industry. As a

All vehicles are not created equal according to an article published by Driverside, the engine type or displacement of the car is due to the size of an engine. An example is the engine of two car, one being a Ford Focus which uses 4-cylinder 1.5L engine consumes less fuel than a much larger vehicle such as a Chevrolet Camaro. Which uses a 5.4 L V-8 ( 8 cylinder engine). The engine of the Focus uses 1.5 liters of air when mixed in with the fuel in the engine; compared to the Camaro which uses 5.4 liters of air with its fuel-air mixture. As a result the fuel consumption the Ford Focus is less than the Chevrolet Camaro. An effect from more conservative fuel economy standard has led to Automotive manufacturers to turn to develop smaller engines like the Ford
