Blitzkrieg was the invasion of Poland by the German army, the invasion is known as the start of world war 2 as allies declared war on the axis. The invasion of Poland was rather easy for the German army, the Germans marched into Poland as if it was that easy. The Allies declaring war on the Axis was coming, the Germans had pushed boundaries of the treaty of Versailles before, but, at invading Poland was the end of the line. The outcome of the invasion was a success for the Germans, they took over Poland easily but, it caused the start of WW2. The Invasion of Poland is regarded as a challenge Canadians faced, in starting another world war and Canadians being forced to fight.

On September 1st 1939 at 4:45 a.m., approximately 1.5 million German troops invade Poland all along its 1,750-mile border with German controlled territory, the German army invaded Poland this is also known as Blitzkrieg- Lightning war. The German army had many new sources of technology that was not accessible to other countries. The Germans surprised the Polish army by using new technology such as tanks and aircraft. Poland was prepared for more traditional warfare used on WW1. The use of FM radios within tanks was very helpful to the Germans making it easier to contact superiors . Blitzkrieg for Poland was devastating, the 1st act of war- Luftwaffe attacked the polish city of Wieluń destroying 75% of the city and killing close to 1,200 civilians. The Bombing of Warsaw was tragic, it left the city to rubble, and left 6,000-7,000 Polish civilians dead. In the end approximately 150,000-200,000 Polish lives were lost .
