The Tragedy of Julius Caesar is one of many plays that Shakespeare wrote. This play tells the story of the planning, killing and the aftermath of Caesar's murder. Brutus and the other conspirators kill Caesar because they believe that he would not be suitable for power and that he would abuse his power. Later on after Caesar's death the conspirators told noble Brutus that they killed him out of anger and hatred and not for the love of Rome. Brutus was hurt and was very depressed that he was the only one who killed Caesar for the good of Rome and that the conspirators killed him for the wrong reason. Marcus Brutus was considered a noble man in Rome during his time. He was born into a noble family. His family was considered noble because his father, Junius Brutus kicked the kings out of Rome and established a democracy. We know that his father did this because Cassius says “You and I have heard our fathers talk of another Brutus-your ancestor- who would have let the devil himself reign in his Roman Republic before letting a king rule” (I.ii. 158-162). He expresses his doubts on killing Caesar in his garden with the conspirators. On one hand Brutus was a friend of Caesar. To prove this he says “The only way is to kill Caesar. I have no personal reason to strike at him-only the best interest of the people”(II.i.10-12). He says this because he has nothing against Caesar but he wants to do the best thing for Rome and its people. On the other hand Caesar has the potential to be dangerous. Brutus and the other conspirators did not want Caesar crowned because the government in Rome will become a monarchy and they want to keep it a democracy. To support this Brutus says “My ancestors drove Tarquin from the streets of Rome when he was pronounced a king(II.i.53-55)...Oh Rome, I promise you, if you are meant to receive justice you will receive it by my
