Caitlyn Clark is an inspiration to many as she has changed the game of basketball. Greatness was expected from her at a young age as she began her journey at age five playing boys basketball. Her dad, who coached her at the time, decided this due to the fact there was no girls league. Parents began to complain about Caitlyn because she was such a component. Saying girls and boys shouldn't play together. As an eighth grader, Caitlyn began to dominate varsity basketball for Dowling Catholic High School. She was named top 8th grader in the state of Iowa. She also won an AAU championship during this time. She played for AAU her whole high school career until college. She had offers from both Notre Dame and Iowa State. Clark then committed to Iowa State, where she would later make history. Freshman year of college, her skills were already being showcased with the title of big time freshmen. She led her team to the NCAA tournament where she began to beat the college record. She broke not only the point record, but the three-point record as well. The Dawn Staley award was given to Caitlin as it was the first time a freshman has won this award. She was the starting point guard for all four years of college. She had many triple-double games. And was the fastest athlete to score 1000 points. Caitlyn brought back the support for the game as almost every game had been sold out her senior year. She helped her teammates get to where they are now and supported her team through everything. Many times Caitlyn has expressed much love for the game,her teammates and coaches and explains she could be here today without them. “They opened the doors so I could walk through them,” Caitlyn Clark explained during an interview after the winning game.
