The safety of migrant farm workers was saved only when someone spoke up to fight for what was right. The man who saved the lives of millions of farmworkers and their families was Cesar Chavez. He worked in the fields as a teenager because his dad was hurt and he didn't want his mother to work. As he was growing up he would see all the injustice happening in the fields and wanted to change something but didn't have the power to. When the Army began segregation, Cesar joined and fought for 2 years. When he got back he had money saved up from working and realized the treatment of the field workers wasn't getting any better and decided to make a change and stand up for what he thought was right. Struggling to live, as the minimum wage was as little as 40 cents an hour; no matter if they worked 12 hours every day they would only make $50 a week (History.com Editors). Cesar was a strong and embracing man who wanted people to get what they deserved. After seeing everything happening first hand, he realized people were being treated very unfairly.
