In this essay I will be talk about how Christianity is moving to Northern Europe. Also I will be talking about the monks and missionaries, and how they affected the teachings. It was a part of Europe that wasn’t exposed to Christianity.
During the Middle Ages a period that lasted from 500 to about 1500. During these ages many places didn’t practice Christianity. Christianity was only common in places that had been part of Roman Empire, such as Italy and Spain. As time passed, however, it slowly spread farther north.The spread was largely through the efforts of two groups of Christians- missionaries and monks. In these communities, monks spent their time in prayer, work, and, meditation. Communities of monks, or missionaries were built all over Europe in the Middle Ages. Life in a monastery was strictly organized. The monks has to follow rules that were intended to help them live as good Christians.Religious faith was a critical component in the daily life of everyone. Daily prayer rituals were customary, often several times a day, particularly at mealtimes. Religion and spiritual faith held great sway over most individuals of the time, who sought to live their lives in service of God. They had rules they followed to help people. Most European monasteries followed a set of rules created in the early 500s by Italian monk names Benedict. His code was called the Benedict Rule, and those who followed it were called the Benedict monks. Not all had the same exact ways. Different groups of monks created their own rules. They helped lots of empires find their way to Christianity. The monks were strictly organized.
