During the Early Middle Ages Europe was going through many changes and getting introduced to many new things. Later during the High Middle Ages, there was a lot of continuity but also change. Throughout the times of the Middle Ages social, political and economic factors were being continued and changed, one of the main factors of this was Christianity. Christianity was introduced to Europe and was spread by many people, some people that spread it were popes, missionaries and the papacy. People’s lives would never be the same after Christianity began to build, what they didn’t know was that it would have just as big a toll today as it did all the way back in the Early Middle Ages. In 330, Emperor Constantine introduced caesaropapism. Caesaropapism was where the emperor not only ruled as a lord but also played a big role in ecclesiastical affairs, Constantine was the first Christian emperor and he wanted to spread that to the people. This changed the government because Constantine wanted Christianity to spread and become the main religion in the Byzantine Empire, after Constantine died the new emperor Justinian began to make the empire stronger and more successful. Soon when Christianity was in Russia and England the Mediterranean trade grew, they were beginning to get new resources that they were not able to when only in the Mediterranean.
