The Renaissance was a beautiful period, with beautiful pieces of artwork to the beautiful melodies in songs, the Renaissance is truly a time to remember. Many famous pieces of work and their artists came from this period, artists such as Michelangelo, van Eyck and da Vinci. Leonardo da Vinci is most famous for his piece called the Mona Lisa. However, the great artist Leonardo da Vinci had a passion along with his talents for art, his passion was the human body. He was fascinated with the “mathematics of nature represented in a famous drawing of the human figure” (Bishop). Leonardo loved the perfect proportions and geometry of a circle or square created by the human body. Many people say that artists are the ones to see things that others cannot and Leonardo da Vinci was that artist. He was an artist beyond his time, his doodles and sketches were so advanced only he knew it. For example, “his notebooks outline versions of technology as the tank, submarine, and airplane…. Most of Leonardo’s designs remained unrealized” (Bishop 209). Leonardo da Vinci’s talent in art and his passion show throughout his artwork makes him one of the painters to breath the same air as us.
A period known for its beauty in artwork and its artist, the Renaissance is a period that should never go unappreciated.
