Derek Jeter's History and Influence on Baseball There it was, Derek Jeter's final at bat. The crowd was roaring, the score was five to five after the Yankees scored three runs. The pitcher was nervous to give up a run. The pitch came, and Jeter hit it to right field for a walk off single, scoring the winning run to end the game! This hit will forever be known by not only Yankee lovers, but Jeter lovers as well. It almost happened like a Disney movie, everything great happens at the end to the good person. He has started many trends, and has started the Turn 2 Foundation for children. He is a hard working, very intelligent man, who loves the game of baseball. Why has Derek Jeter …show more content…

He has inspired people to do things they never dreamed of doing. He also helps younger children through his Turn 2 Foundation. This is an organization that was established to help children and teenagers avoid drug and alcohol addiction, and award people who show high academic achievement and adopt a healthier lifestyle. While he was sharing a pizza in a Detroit hotel room with his father, just 22 years old, he told his father he was ready for his own charity. Then they laid plans for the Turn 2 Foundation. It would be an effort that would work to keep young children away from alcohol and drugs. "Through these ventures, the Foundation strives to create outlets that promote and reward academic excellence, leadership development and positive behavior. Turn 2's goal is to see the children of these programs grow safely and successfully into adulthood and become the leaders of tomorrow." From mlb.mlb.com. Many children who are a part of the Turn 2 foundation enter the foundation in a real bad lifestyle, but come out and feel motivated to change the world. Many of his actions are spread throughout the world and will be known for a number of years. It's very rare to find a man like Derek Jeter in the present due to the lack of his three principles (determination, positivity, and courage). Derek has also shown his love for creation by creating the Turn 2 foundation. Hopefully, this foundation will advance in publicity for everyone to know. Derek has always been an inspiration for young children, and it's good to know that someone can care for their fans as much as Derek Jeter does.
