Alex Rodríguez had a great career according to “Baseball Reference”, at the beginning of Alex Rodriguez’s career he was drafted 1st overall by the Mariners and his debut was the following and he looked like he had it all hitting, fielding, and speed and versatility. He continued to dominate for the Mariners in 1996 he finished second in the MVP voting and played with them until he left in free agency to the Texas Rangers. They signed him for 10 years 252 million dollars (Hascup). Then he was deemed the richest baseball player in MLB history. He was the youngest player in history to hit 500 home runs in 2007 and two years later he won his first and only career World Series (Wells). Toward the end of his career he was hampered by hip and knee injuries and that forced to become a DH which stands for designated hitter. He didn't play out his full contract and his final game was August 12th 2016. He was one of the most prolific hitters in baseball history. He had played 22 seasons, hit 696 home runs,earned 3 MVP awards, and 14 all star nominations and his record of amazing keeps going to many different awards to list. Evidence eventually appeared that he was paying $12,000 a month over two years to a fake doctor named Anthony Bosch (Weaver). Earlier in 2007 when Rodriguez had just signed another huge deal he was invited onto 60 minutes with Katie Couric he had been asked if he was taking steroids and he shook it off and no one thought about it. In 2009 Rodriguez admitted to using steroids, saying he used them from 2001 to 2003 when playing for Rangers due to "an enormous amount of pressure" to perform. While recovering from a hip injury in 2013, Rodriguez made headlines by feuding with team management over his rehabilitation and for having allegedly obtained performance-enhancing drugs as part of the Biogenesis baseball scandal(Jennings). In August 2013, MLB suspended him 211 games for his involvement in the scandal, but he was allowed to play while appealing the punishment. Had the original suspension been upheld, it would have been the longest non-lifetime suspension in Major League Baseball history. After an arbitration hearing, the suspension was reduced to 162 games, keeping him off the field for the entire 2014 season. The reason the suspension was so extensive wasn't just because he took the PEDs it was because of his long effort of trying to keep them covered up.
