Dimitar Peshev and how he influenced me to make more ethical decisions A person that inspires me to make more ethical decisions is Dimitar Peshev. His heroic actions to go against the Nazis resulted in Dimitar saving many lives, which inspires me to be a more persistent and ethical person in hard life situations. There was a moment in Dimitar Peshev’s life when he was faced with making a stand and it took only a good friend’s perspective for him to make a decision for humanity and save lives of thousands. Dimitar Peshev saved lives of 50,000 Jews, went against the opposition, and sacrificed his political career to do right by people who were in danger of being deported. Dimitar made the moral choice to save a friend not realizing that 50,000 lives depended on that decision. He stood by his reputation of being an honorable and honest man and he believed in making ethical choices for his country. In my life I have had negative moments, when I first came to America it was hard for me to make friends because I didn’t speak English. By making positive actions and persisting I succeeded in communicating and socializing. Now when I see a person who is struggling I try to help them, just like Dimitar Peshev helped his friend. That’s why I was inspired by Dimitar Peshev, he was an unyielding, selfless and determined man. He made a selfless moral choice and was uninfluenced by others even though he was under negative circumstances. He taught me that I shouldn’t worry about what others are telling me and follow my moral compass. He did what in the world that I believe in, everyone, especially our leaders should
