Edgar Allan Poe was a man who suffered from tragedy and heart break but we can all be happy that he survived because he brought us some of the best writing the world has ever seen. He had a terrible child hood with a dying mother and a dad who walked out on them. In his teenage years times got better he got many jobs with various journals and articles. This was is claim to fame he was the first person to make a living from just writing. That was not all, he did many other things in literature

If you said that Poe had a hard childhood that would be accurate. Poe was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1808.Poe's dad abandoned the family before he was born.. He was the middle child and at the age of three his mom died of tuberculosis. He then was adopted by wealthy tobacco merchants, the Allan’s; the merchants name was John and his wife’s name was Francis. As a child Poe looked up to a poet named Lord Bryon. Lord Bryon was a British poet who was very well known around the world. Lord Bryon is known for such poems as "Don Juan" and "Childe Harold's Pilgrimage" This was foreshadowing for what would become of Poe in adulthood. …show more content…

By the time he was 13 he had written enough to publish a book. He eventually went to West Point, but before that he published another book. As a teenager Poe got jobs writing reviews about various novels, books, poems, and other writing. He became very well known for his harsh reviews cracking down on everything he could. People new him as the tomahawk He wrote many poems like "The Tell Tail" Heart and most commonly known "The Raven".
