Edgar Allan Poe was a very famous American author. He wrote many famous pieces of work. Poe got started writing when he was very young and continued his great writings for 17 years. His work is still well known today; we continue to read his work in english class. Poe had an interesting life, along with his interesting style of writing. He lived a mediocre life, and his writings are more important now than they were then. Poe was born on January 9, 1809 in Boston Massachusetts. His parents were both professional actors and died when Poe was very young. His mother died when he was three years old from tuberculosis, and his father died shortly after from alcoholism. Poe was raised in a very poor family. He started writing at a young age and some of his most famous writings were written when he was young. He got most of his creative writings from his childhood. He studied at the University of Virginia, first wanting to study law, then later realizing he wanted to be an author. He was later kicked out from his addiction to gambling.
