Edgar Allan Poe is known today as one of the greatest writers in history. Poe wrote many types of stories like short stories, poetry, a novel, a textbook, a book of scientific theory, and many essays and book reviews. Poe’s life didn’t start out so great though. During his life he had many deaths of people very close to him and during his life had many financial issues. Poe’s entire life had seemed to lead to great misfortune. Poe was born to a poor family of traveling actors in Boston January 19, 1809. Poe was one of the three children that his mother and father had. His brother, William Henry Leonard Poe, went on to be a poet just like Poe. Before Poe reached the age of three, his parents had died. The night that Poe was found, he was in a bar that was also in a building used for election voting. In the area of Baltimore elections were known to be dishonest and corrupt. Groups of people would go around and bribed voters to vote for their political party. In many cases they would capture innocent citizens, many of those that did not vote for elections. Some groups would bring the captured civilians to a room called a coop room. In a coop room civilians would be “convinced” to vote for the selected political party, in some instances the civilians would be beaten, drugged, or be forced to drink alcohol. When the civilians were convinced to vote for the selected party. Then they would be forced to go in and out of polls all night and days, sometimes changing clothes to be seen as a different person. Poe was found that night in clothes that were not of his own, this is another supporting fact to the theory of cooping. Many witnesses brought forward their opinion on when they saw Poe that night. One women claimed to have seen Poe being jumped and beaten by a group of men. A man claimed to have saw Poe leaving a different bar in a drunken state and unable to walk
