1. Chicago has compared him to Al Capone. He is rich, powerful, and one of the most dangerous men in Mexico. The great drug kingpin Joaqin “El Chapo” Guzman is the leader of the sinola cartel, the most powerful in Mexico. Recently escaped from the confines of a maximum security prison through a mile long tunnel which started at his shower.
2. This is a lesson on El Chapo. First, how did El Chapo become such a dominant drug figure? Second how is the cartel impacting Mexico today? Third, how did recently escape and how is he impacting the United States?

A. El chapo recently escaped a maximum security prision for the second time.

1) The tunnel El Chapo escaped from was nearly one mile long and was 62 feet underground, Customized with lights, air venting, and a motorcycle rigged up on tracks.

Since El Chapo wasn’t in jail for more than a year, Jim Dinkins, the former head of immigration Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations, stated “To pull off such a feat, rescuers likely had intelligence on the prison even before Guzman was arrested” which implies he had people on the inside working with him.

B. El chapo has many connections with the United States and the border control is very week.

1) Guzman is said to have achieved a California state drivers’ license and has been tipped to be hiding there and is primarily involved in smuggling drugs into the United States

2) While everyone thinks that this problem is not in our backyard. Guzman ordered his wife, Emma Coronel, the daughter of another Mexican drug lord, to give birth in the United States to secure citizenship for his children so they can help the future of the cartel
