On February 22, 1732, a boy by the name of George Washington was born in the New World. Washington was born in Virginia to Augustine Washington and his second wife, Mary Ball Washington. While growing up, George had no idea that one day he will change the world forever. In 1753, Washington gained a vast amount of military experience in the French and Indian War with a commission as a major in the militia of the British Province of Virginia. Ultimately, this led him to the Revolutionary War of 1775 where he was chosen by the Continental Congress to be commander in chief of the continental army. With Washington’s great military experience from the French and Indian War, the continental army was able to use the best tactics to beat the British army. One of the army’s main tactics was to lure the British into a trap; the army would have a line of men who would shoot at the British, and then retreat. Then, the British would chase after the retreating men, which lead them to an area where they are completed surrounded by continental soldiers. Also, the continental would use rifles that had better range then British rifles; they would use these rifles to take down British officers, which lead to British soldiers being clueless on what to do. Without Washington, I wouldn’t have my freedom that I get from the Constitution because the British would’ve taken over the United States, and we would’ve been under the King’s rule. In my belief, I think it’s very important for all Americans to remember Washington’s legacy because it has a great impact on their lives. Thanks to Washington, all Americans have a large amount of freedom and can become whatever they want. With Washington’s legacy, I can accomplish my goals in life to create my own change. My main goal in life is to graduate college with a master’s degree in history education, and then later become a high school history teacher. For one thing, I find history to be very interesting and like to talk about it, but, becoming a history teacher will allow me to create change in to future generations. As a history teacher, I will be about to give future students information they need to accomplish their own life goals. Also, I hope to inspire some students to continue my legacy and become teachers of their
