Some of the first civilizations started out in present day South America, Europe and the Middle East. Mesopotamia started coming together in 8000 B.C.E. located in present day Iraq and Syria, and the Chavin civilization was located in modern day Peru becoming prominent in 900 B.C.E. These two civilizations had many similarities in religious, political, and technological advancements mainly because the Mesopotamian civilization was a big influence to many others. Both the Mesopotamian and Chavin political structures were heavily based around their religion. Their leaders were not only monarchs, but they were also thought to be blessed with the power which also serves them as religious authority.
Mesopotamia and the Shang and Zhou were two very successful early civilizations. Mesopotamia was a civilization that emerged from the fertile lands between the Tigris and the Euphrates rivers in the Middle East. Chinese people called the Shang took over a portion of northern China located near the Huang He, and began to develop their dynasty. The Zhou dynasty took over the Shang, but both dynasties succeed in bringing China new achievements.
During the late 19th century, there was a huge increase in new technologies that would eventually affect the Indians that lived on the Great Plains, including the Trans Continental railroads and barbed wire. In fact, the government would also make efforts to limit the presence of the Plain Indians, and establish acts that would affect their culture of life, like the Dawes Severalty Act and the Homestead Act of 1860. The establishment of the Railroad finished in 1869, connecting the East and West. It influenced the amount of white settlers traveling to any part of the country and would eventually affect the Indians. This would affect the Indians because it brought more white settlers to their land.
The land along the Nile and delta was arable and very good for farming, while the rest of the land was dry like a desert. (Document 2-1) So, the land near the Nile became the perfect environment for a civilization to commence. Although the Nile floods provided silt, allowing crops to grow, the floods also destroyed villages and killed many people. Despite this, so much success was found in Egypt because of Nile River.
In the early civilizations , government, economy, and the art culture was growing for developing countries. The Tigris and Euphrates River Valley was very similar and different from the famous Nile river valley in Egypt in many ways. Waging wars and causing trouble in paradise are not the only things that the Middle East is and was capable of. These two civilizations built the structure of autocracy, monarchy, and the artistic community, from hieroglyphics to pictographs these communities of people created things that we still use today to find out more of ancient history. Mesopotamia is one of the earliest civilizations in the world; hence it is called the cradle of civilization. Located between the rivers Tigris and Euphrates, Mesopotamia is the perfect word for this region since Mesopotamia also means the land between rivers. These two rivers created the Fertile Crescent which was surrounded by barren territories. People in this area gave up hunting and gathering and instead slowly shifted into agricultural means of getting food to help them survive. They started domesticating animals and planted their own crops.
The fertile soil brought farmers to the land, and villages were built. The river flooded farther out, so the civilization was spread out farther than Egypt and Mesopotamia. Another civilization formed farther west, where China is today. The early Chinese civilizations formed in the valleys of the Huang He and the Chang Jiang- the 2 river systems that ran through China.
Egypt, Mesopotamia, Shang/Zhou dynasties/China, and the Indus Valley are all different ancient river valley civilizations. All have different aspects of civilizations. Some aspects of civilization include technology, writing/language, specialized jobs, government, etc. These decisions were made based on the climate and biome the civilization was located in. These things needed to be taken into account because certain aspects of civilization were not suitable for every civilization.
The people of Indus Valley were part of an advanced civilization. One artifact that proves that the people of the Indus Valley were part of an advanced civilization is The Great Bath. The Great Bath proves that the people of Indus Valley were part of and advanced civilization because the people of Indus Valley used the Great Bath for religious reasons. Also near the bath, there was a sewer system that carried away the dirty water. The sewer system was an advance technology at the time.

Ancient Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt were two early human civilizations that lived during the bronze age in harsh desert environments located not far from each other. Both civilizations were built around rivers that they depended on for survival. There is evidence that these rivers had great influence on both the societies politics and culture. Egypt was built around the very strong and reliable Nile River. Ancient Mesopotamia was established in the fertile crescent between the less reliable Tigris and Euphrates Rivers.
They were the first people to use the irrigation system. That is why in Mesopotamia they had a surplus of crops. In Egypt they did a lot of mining. They found things like gold and turned it into jewelry. In India they did a lot of engineering.
Also, the Nile River affected the culture of the Egyptian civilization because it became a large part of their religious beliefs. This proves that geography had a large part in shaping the civilization in the Egyptian river
