Animal farm is a book about animals that overtake a farm and elect the pigs as their leaders. The pigs start becoming evil and start making bad choices for animal farm. The pigs have created these problems with their government, first the pigs don’t follow their own rules, Second the dogs created a state of war with the animals, Third the animals can't think for themselves. These things are all making horrible living conditions for the animals.
First, the pigs do not follow their own rules and even worse they start changing them without the animals on the farm knowing. In the book the animals and Old Major agree on retiring ages and the seven commandments and are told to memorize them and the pigs are the only ones who can. The dogs could do anything they wanted to do to the animals as long as they were given permission from Napoleon. John Locke said when you try to take anyone's rights you're at a state of war with them and the dogs took away the right to speak freely and the animals were scared to talk about it with each other for the fear of being hurt by the dogs. The dogs wouldn’t let the animals have some of their rights and they were scared and Napoleon could do whatever he wanted to do to the animals. One example of this is Napoleon started ordering the dogs to kill animals.
Third, Napoleon was a horrible leader that only cared about his own prosperity and did anything to get to the top. He chased away snowball and threatened the other pigs with the dogs and did not let the other animals think for themselves and when they did he sent squealer to tell them that it was wrong and how they were better off for some reason that was a lie, He said to the animals every sunday meeting the fake percentages and numbers about what they were getting now that they were not getting when the Jones was in charge of the farm.
