While the Aleuts did not come back again to the Island of the Blue Dolphins, Karana made more weapons such as a spear, a bow, and a quiver of arrows to be ready to move another part of the island when the Aletus will come back. Karana has kept counting of all the moons since her brother’s death. One day of the summer, Rontu did not come back home, so Karana looked for him to the lair where he used to live with his tracks. After that she found him which was lying in the back of the cave. She finally put her hand on his chest and felt his last heart beating, but he passed away. He was buried on the headland. After reading this book, I felt so sad because the ship sunk in a great storm, which took all peoples lives of the Ghalas-at village in spite of a small village. That means that Kanrana have never met those people since then. Moreover, it was amazing that this story was based on the real story of the Lost Woman of San Nicolas. Karana have been alone in the island for 22 years. If I were Karana, I could not endure to live alone except animal friends. Fortunately, she made some friends such as Tutok, Rontu, and Rontu-Aru, and I imagined that they helped Karana’s mental part as company even though they could not speak like human. I have learned so many things from this book since January because Karana showed the methods to survive in the island. She tended to well preparing the planes before she deals with something. As a result, she have been brave to survive in an uninhabited island for 22 years. I was wandered if I survive in the U.S. College like Karana. I appreciated that I have a chance to read such a great book as an assignment
