Barbara Charline Jordan was born on February 21, 1936. Jordan was born in Houston, Texas. Jordan’s parents were, Ben Jordan; a black Baptist minister, and Arlyne Jordan a so called ‘domestic worker’. Jordan was the first southern black female to be elected to the United States House of Representatives. Everything she did was dedicated for all the black people.
The Life of Lizzie Johnson Elizabeth E. Johnson Williams was born on May 9 ,1840 and lived in Cole County, Missouri. Lizzie was just six years old when her family moved to Texas, they first settled in Huntsville, but but later moved to Bear Creek in Hays County. Lizzie earned a degree in 1859 at the Chappell Hill Female College in Washington County. She began her career as a schoolteacher at the Johnson Institute. The school was a co educational school, it was founded in 1852 in Hays County by her parents.
After her baseball career she began working at a job and impacting the world. I believe Mamie had a rough early life, but it was what made her so tough in the long run. Mamie johnson was born to this world on September 27, 1935 in Ridgway, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Della Belton who was divorced when Mamie was a young girl.
Since Dr. Bethune was her parents’ only child to attend school, she always came home sharing all her newfound knowledge with her family. She once said “Invest in the human soul. Who knows, it might be a diamond in the rough.” I believe by this she meant without taking the time to invest knowledge and understanding in a person you will never find out the potential they truly hold. Upon graduating from college, she became a teacher; education was whole-heartedly her passion and love.
She began teaching at age 14 and even found a school for girls, the Dix Mansion. It was a school for girls who didn’t have the money to go to a school and allowed them to attend for free. She even wrote textbooks and her book Conversations on Common
Dorothy Vaughan, a mathematical engineer who paved the way for many to later follow at NASA as well as in the world we live in today. Dorothy Vaughan was an African-American mathematical engineer who was born on September 20, 1910 in Kansas City, Missouri. Although this being her hometown, she later moved to Morgantown, West Virginia where she would graduate from Beechurst high school in 1925. Four years following her graduation, Dorothy received a Bachelor of Science degree from Wilberforce University which was located in Ohio. Shortly after Dorothy Vaughan, who was Dorothy Johnson at the time, married Howard Vaughan in 1932.
Biography: Harriet Tubman was born as a slave on a Maryland farm. Her birth is said to have taken place in 1820 or 1821, but most enslavers didn't keep all birth documents. Life as a slave was very difficult for Harriet Tubman, her family of eleven children were living in a one-room cabin with her. She was only 6 years old when she was sold to a new family where she had to take care of a baby.
Lyndon Baines Johnson was born on August 27, 1908, near Central Texas. As a young adult, Johnson attended and graduated from the college now known as Texas State University. To afford his tuition, he spent his time teaching underprivileged minority students. This experience exposed him to the many issues of poverty and discrimination, and there began his determination to help resolve these problems. Johnson began his political career when he was elected to the House of Representatives for the Democratic Party.

He was born in Macedonia as Philip II’s son in 356 BC and became king of Macedonia when he turned 20, after his fathers death. When he was king first he ended the Theban revolt and enslaved all the people to set an example for what would happen if you rebelled against Alexander. Then he set out to conquer the rest of the world until his death in 323 BC.
According to the text, “When Johnson finally did start school, she so excelled that by age 10, she was in high school. By age 15, she’d start college!” This shows that she already achieved amazing achievements at a young age. Katherine Johnson enrolled at West Virginia State College. There, she was “immersed in the math program.”
You might not know the day of August 26,1918 (Biography.com) it was a day that changed history forever. Despite racism and segregation, Katherine Johnson was the first African American woman to assist the apollo team at NASA. Johnson overcame obstacles through her life for her to get to such a place. She was a monumental piece of history. To fully understand what she accomplished one must know about her early life, rise to fame, and her greatest legacy.

When Bessie was 9 she was in Waxahachie, Texas and Bessie was singing and pretending to be a bird flying in the cotton fields.
She credited with apollo 11’s onboard software, and was successful. She has also credited the term “software engineering”. She began being a programmer in 1959 and wrote the apollo 11 at a young age. As a woman people doubted her but she is considered to be one of the most successful smartest women. She has also has said things like “no question is a bad question” saying “i don't
Lyndon Baines Johnson was born in Stonewall, Texas on August 27, 1908. His family had settled in Texas before the Civil War. Lyndon B. Johnson was the oldest of his siblings. The nearby town of Johnson City was named after the Johnson’s family, because they were very successful in farming and ranching. Lyndon’s father was a rancher and part-time politician.
For me, literacy has always been a problem to this day I am still learning how to speak, and write using proper literacy. Literacy is not just reading and writing, anyone can do that but the ability to understand such things, to comprehend them that is, true literacy. My development for literacy has always been a struggle as I have spoken about before. I had a speak impediment when I was younger which used me to go into different classes which took me away from formal English classes.
