She makes a plan for the murder to happen when Duncan is sleeping, and she will accuse the guards of the crime. First, she must get the guards drunk, and she will then kill him, putting the blood on the guards to make it look like they did it. She manipulates her husband into thinking that the plan will work. He is convinced and says that he will “dare do all that may become a man.” However, when Lady Macbeth goes to kill Duncan, she cannot because he resembles her father sleeping.

She manipulates Macbeth, her husband, to carry out her plan to kill King Duncan as something that must be done. She acts swiftly and without considering of the consequences, kills King duncan . Although she didn't really murder the king, she was still the cause of it.
There are two people that are at fault for the killing of King Duncan. Macbeth or Lady Macbeth I personally think that the fault is definitely on lady Macbeth because all the stuff she did plays a bigger role than what Macbeth did. Like completely plan planning his murder, and convincing Macbeth to kill Duncan even when he didn't want to do it. As soon as lady Macbeth heard that the 3 witches told Macbeth that he was going to be king she wanted it. She wanted that power more than anything, even more than Macbeth.
The letter which Macbeth wrote Lady Macbeth accelerated Macbeth’s ambition to kill king Duncan. Once Macbeth gained knowledge of the prophecy about being thane of Cawdor he wrote Lady Macbeth and told her all about it. Macbeth made a big mistake by doing that. Since Macbeth told Lady Macbeth about the prophecy, Lady Macbeth became ambitious and wanted Macbeth to fulfill the prophecy. By both Macbeth’s and Lady Macbeth’s ambition they generated a plan to accelerate the process for Macbeth to become king of Scotland.
Yet this doesn’t last for long because once Macbeth returns with the news that he has killed Duncan she berates him once more for fearing that they may be caught by saying, “You do unbend your noble strength to think/ So brainsickly of things” (2.2.45-46). She is shown as a strong and ruthless woman, with vaulting ambition and courage, able to manipulate her husband, ‘brave Macbeth’ to do anything for her (including murder Duncan). Shakespeare first introduces us to lady Macbeth, in act 1 scene 5, in this scene lady Macbeth learns that Macbeth is going to be king. She is sure that he is too “full of human kindness” to murder Duncan and says, “Come you spirits, That tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here.”
She struggles with the notion that she had a hand in King Duncan's murder. She did not want to murder King Duncan herself because she saw her father in him. This caused her to force Macbeth to do the deed himself. When he failed to plant the weapons on the guards, Lady Macbeth had no other option but to go and do it herself. A messenger sends a message to Lady Macbeth that King Duncan of Scotland will be arriving at night to the castle. She is very manipulative and she is scared that Macbeth is too soft and calm to attempt a murderer. She wants Macbeth to feel less like a normal human so he attempts to kill Duncan as a cruel person.
