From 1928, when the plan started, to 1932 to its end, many factories, dams, power stations and even cities were being built. Despite there being harsh penalties implemented to workers for failure to meet their targets, there was still a significant increase in Russia’s industrial growth in a very short period of time. Just like the emancipation of the serfs in 1861, under Tsar Alexander II, in protest of Stalin’s policies, the peasants, in protest, refused to work harder than they needed too, causing them to destroy livestock and crops, which eventually lead to their unnecessary death. Stalin, just like the Tsarist autocratic regime, was not committed to collectivism but preferred capitalism in his ruling of the Soviet Union. This caused a lot of rebellion from the Kulaks who opposed collectivism.

During the years of 1919 to 1928 the fear of communism spreading across America after WW1 was a big issue. Lenin 's belief of no economic classes and no private property was slowly starting to intrigue many. This period of fear was know as the Red Scare. President Palmer took action to prevent communism from spreading in America known as the Palmer Raids. Buildings burning, citizens yelling and people demanding, rioters stormed the winter palace in order to bring change. While World War I filled the atmosphere of the world, Russia handled a war of their own. Bolshevik leaders overthrew the Czar monarchy for the hope of a better life. The Russian Revolution, led by Vladimir Lenin, relates to McCarthyism and the Salem witch trials in the sense that all three ideologies destroyed a false threat. Lenin’s tyrannical reign resulted in the corruption of the government, neglection of people’s welfare and began communism in Russia.
The outcome of Stalin’s rule and his contribution to the defeat of the Nazis during WWII can be partly attributed to his character. According to Molotov, Stalin was regarded as fearless and resolute in his decisions and approaches (65). Some wonder how he was able to maintain power after increasing criticism from his subjects. Of course Stalin had many opponents not just in Government, but in public. His communist views were unacceptable to individuals who owned land and means of production.
Communism, an ideology developed by Karl Marx, was a key component in the revolution of USSR. Marx envisioned a society where the lower and upper classes were equal in regards to property and rights. During the Russian Revolution, an extensive amount of propaganda was used to promote communism. Although propaganda was used in various forms, the posters made a huge impact in convincing the population of Soviet Union to support the communist cause. The posters contained several healthy messages about the effects of the revolution in Soviet Union.
Communism was an economic-political philosophy founded by Karl Marx and Fredrich Engels. These men both had similar principle which lead to their book named " The Communist Manifesto ". They both desired to end capitalism feeling that it was the social class system that led to exploitation of workers. This led to many conflicts between capitalism and communism as economic systems. Communism posed a domestic threat to America because communism resulted in Red Scare, Era of McCarthyism, and Cold War.
Cindy Sherman, Untitled Film Still, photographed in 1978 contrasts differently from her previous work. It depicts her wearing a fancy dress and jewellery implying that she is going out to a party or is at one. Her photograph reflects the Feminist movement during the 1970’s as women were beginning to stand up for what they believed in. Women wanted to change the “traditional” role of women and change the image of gender roles.
Karl Marx was born May 5th 1818 in Germany. The economic ideas of Karl Marx were specifically that he did not believe in people having great ideas to change the economy but rather that all people needed was to be able to live a decent life, meaning that they had food to eat and a home. For Karl Marx the economic system had to be equal values, and therefore eradicating classes. Therefore arises Communism, which is the defined by the Chambers Concise Dictionary (2009) as “A political ideology advocating a classless society, the abolition of private ownership, and collective ownership by the people of all sources of wealth and production.” The ideas of Karl Marx were adopted in many countries across the globe for example the USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Russia) that existed from 1922 to 1991 when the idea of socialism and communism failed and
The bloodshed and carnage of WWI was still fresh in the minds of Europe. Russia had recently gone through a revolution that destroyed the monarchy, and put the leader of the Bolsheviks, the party that led the revolution, in charge. His name was Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov, also known as Lenin. Lenin and the Bolsheviks practiced communism, the belief a totalitarian system of government in which a single authoritarian party controls state-owned means of production. In other words, there is no privately owned property, and all property is owned by the state.

However, the question of whether he was a hero who toppled an oppressive tyranny, or a villain who replaced it with another remains a controversial one today. In 1917, Lenin helped overthrow the Russian tsar Nicholas II, and founded the Soviet Union. On October 1917, after the victory of the Russian Revolution, Lenin did not have a clear image on socialism, or how it meant to be built. He was, however, able to state the three principal characteristics of socialism, which were the public ownership of the means of production, an end to exploitation, and the dictatorship of the proletariat. He did not take action on these points, and did not devote much attention to socialism as he felt it was not yet an immediate issue.
Behind every event are causes and effects. Causes, as in not mono-causation, and effects, as in more than one. This endless chain shapes history. The Bolshevik Revolution of 1917 is no different. The Russian Revolution of 1917 allowed for the transformation of the Russian government, bringing about a radical political group called the Soviet Union, which spread the political ideal of communism worldwide, changed country boundaries and generated new ways of thinking.
Karl Marx was a German philosopher and economist in the 18th century. He is known for his book the Communist Manifesto that was published in 1848. Marx believed that a revolution of the working classes would over throw the capitalist order and creates a classless society. The Industrial Revolutions led to the proletarianization; his partner Friedrich Engels explained why the changes created by the proletarianization of the worker would develop into a huge problem for industrial societies. I do believe that Karl Marx’s vision of communism in the Communist Manifesto could re-emerge as a popular and workable philosophy of social, economic, and political organization.
