Throughout history there have been various scientist who have contributed to the discovery and understanding of the Solar System today. Although in comparison with other scientist to Galileo Galilei who put evidence together to prove the Heliocentric model to be correct and modified the design of the spyglass to construct his own version of a telescope to discover different aspects of space, other scientist discoveries seem less significant and Galileo’s discoveries’ prove to be greater. In September 1608, a German named Hans Lipperhey designed a model of a telescope although his profession wasn’t in astronomy but in spectacle making . Lipperhey did not document interest astronomy so it is questioned for what purpose Lipperhey used his telescope for or if it was more of a spyglass. It may be argued what Lipperhey used the telescope for, if it had the ability to gaze into space and if Lipperhey had the most influence …show more content…
Galileo was evidently the most influential scientist in the discovery of the telescope as he modified his own version of using a range on convex and concave glasses to eventually make it the best telescope at the time and this telescope allowed him to see into space leading to further discoveries creating foundations for today’s knowledge. Christain Huygens was a physicist who discovered Saturn’s rings and moons. He was able to make this discovery with his telescope- which had been a modified version of Galileo’s original telescope; this was just the beginning of how Galileo’s discoveries were going to transform science forever. Isaac Newton was an English scientist who invented a telescope that used refracting mirrors to view into space, these type of telescopes can still be found today. This may seem greater than Galileo’s first telescope because of their place in modern science although, Galileo’s
