I believe chapter three had focused mainly on Colonel Lloyd, and his treatment of his slaves. I believe that the description of Colonel Lloyd's treatment of his slaves, and how both his sons and son-in-law's treatment of slaves were used to show their cruelty. For example, it was stated within the chapter that slaves who worked at the stables were verbally and physically abused depending on the horse's condition, which was likely not even related to their treatment from the slaves. For example, a slave was verbally and physically abused if the horse’s head was not high enough. According to the materiel Of The People, Frederick Douglass was born as Frederick Augustus Washington Bailey in Talbo Country, Maryland, in 1818. He was born into slavery and at the age of seven he was sent to Baltimore and became a ship caulker. He hired out his labor, paying his master three dollars a week and keeping the rest for himself per their agreement. Frederick planned his escape when his master told him to pay him all his earnings rather that just the three dollars a week. After he escaped to the north he started attending and speaking at antislavery meetings.

The economy, as well as the people would suffer, and the nation would fall, and struggle to recover once again. Therefore, I am against declaring war on Great Britain. Since the Texans did not like the way Mexico treated them, why would they want to promote slavery? No matter what year the constitutions were written in there is were no justification for slavery. It is ashame that individuals, local or higher government could lead Texans to believe that slavery was constitutional. On the other side, how could those Texans not realize that slavery was wrong?

In 1842, Soloman Northup, a free slave, was a violinist. He lived with his wife and two children in a middle-class neighbor in Saratoga Springs, New York. As his career grew as a violinist, many people would offer him a job. One day, two men, who identified themselves as circus performers, offered Northup a job as musician to travel to Washington DC However, when they arrived at Washington D.C, the two men drug Northup and sent him to a slave pen in Washington, D.C.
Augustine Washington married a woman named Janet Butler and proceeded to have three children, none of whom being George Washington himself. Due to the death of Augustine’s first wife, he remarried to Mary Ball, and had George Washington, their first child together on February 22, 1732, on their plantation in Westmoreland County, Virginia. Douglass is a African American that was a slave and did a Narrative about his time being a slave and in his Narrative he “threw light” at the American slave system. African American slave Frederick Douglass lived through a time of racism and how slavery was a natural thing to do but was a very awful thing. And slavery is when families who had colored skin were separated and sold of to a person that can do anything to them, the slave is pretty much like the slaveholder’s property. After reading and reviewing many online articles it came to my attention that The Emancipation Proclamation was a very important issue in the 1800s. To be honest I knew very little about it all I knew is what I was told in high school. Meanwhile I read an article called the Emancipation Proclamation that gave me plenty knowledge about this topic. I found that the Emancipation Proclamation was important because it was issues by President Lincoln as an attempt to free slaves. However this goes into more depth than just freeing slaves.
