In addition, Anne was taken to a concentration camp in Auschwitz. On the contrary, Gerda was taken to a forced labor camp that made fabric for the German military. Gerda illustrates her experience in the camp as “…very bad... almost died from being overworked... the director was very violent and very often beat the prisoners” (Website). Furthermore, Gerda’s father died; however, Anne’s father was the only survivor of their family.
By doing all of this, she’s risking her life. As the USSR front draws closer to Auschwitz, the Jews walk Death Marches. Eventually, they are rescued by Soviet Union soldiers while sleeping in a revene. They are told not to hope to find their families
Ruth Posner born in 1933 in Warsaw, Poland. She was only 12 years old when World War II began. She lost both her mother and father in a matter of days and was stuck in the middle of the Holocaust all alone. Before her father passed away, he had been making a plan to ensure the safety of his child. He made sure that her aunt whose two children had already been killed by Nazis would be there for her and be by her side until death.
Imagine being torn from your home, forced into camps, discriminated against to the extreme, separated from your family, and possibly even killed just because of your religious beliefs. Many of Europe's Jews suffered this treatment. About 5-6 million jews out of 9 million Jews died in the holocaust. Marion Blumenthal-Lazan, was a jew who did not die. She should receive the Holocaust Medal of Honour.
(Willoughby, 2004) The words of Alena Synkova approve the fact that even in the darkest and most fearful moments in life, without even her parents beside her, hope can still be achieved. It is a great challenge for someone to maintain hope in these conditions (screams of people and cries of families) and without family there to support her, it makes life difficult to maintain. But Alena Synkova, managed to do this, by repeating the lines of her poetry in her head and knowing that soon one day, there will be someone to save her from the terrible situations at the concentration camp. Furthermore, there were people
Felicia Carmelly, currently age 87, is one of the few Holocaust survivors who remains alive today. Her story is riveting and immensely detailed; consequently, it deserves to be remembered for eternity. Being generally knowledgable about the Holocaust is one perspective, however, reading and understanding Felicia’s point of view is much different. The thoroughly haunting events that transpired in Transnistria, orchestrated through the eyes of Carmelly herself, were heart-wrenching to say the least. Before the Holocaust began, Felicia was living a very structured and fairly pampered lifestyle in Dorna, Romania, as an only child.
“We wait for a miracle to end this nightmare. But no miracle comes. The sun rises warm and bright. The bloody Nazi raids begin again” (Sender 128). In the book The Cage by Ruth Minsky Sender, Riva a sixteen year old girl has to take care of her younger brothers after their mother is taken by the Nazis to a brutal labor camp.
After learning about Brownian and others during this hard time I would like to acknowledge all of those alive during this time and show the world what happened so that we can be prepared to stop this terrible tragedy from happening again in any other country to anyone, no matter what their nationality or race is because I believe that we should all be treated as the same human being that you want yourself to be. In conclusion Brownian was a very strong and important human being who survived the holocaust even when none of the rest of her family could and should be recognized all around the world for her courage and bravery that led to a happy life, long after World War II
On March 19th, 1944, Nazi forces invaded Hungary, the following summer German forces deported roughly 500,000 Jewish people to various concentration camps. Ellie Wiesel was one of them, he writes about this in his book “night.” A harrowing and brave true story about a Hungarian Jewish boy surviving the holocaust and the horror of Nazi ideals. The simple act of writing is an immensely complex thing to harness and implement into a deeper meaning.
The Holocaust ended the lives of 11 million people, 6 million of them being Jews. As well as many other people of different races, religions, disabilities, and sexual orientations. In the novel Night, Elie Wiesel, a survivor of the Holocaust, persevered with his father and really hoped that he would be able to make it through the camp and selection. In the article “Holocaust Survivor Shares Powerful Story of Hope”, Magda Herzberger is another survivor of the Holocaust. Magda persevered through her faith in God and says God is what strengthened her throughout the Holocaust.
During the Holocaust, Jews and other oppressed groups were sent to camps where they were either murdered or forced to work in labor camps. Through selection, the Nazis picked out the strongest to work in the camps and killed the old and young who were more likely to do less work. As a result, women and children were sent to the gas chambers while the men were sent to the work camps. When Elie arrives at Auschwitz, in the novel Night, the Kapos announces, “Here, you must work. If you don’t, you will go straight to the chimney” (Wiesel 39).
There is a young lady who survived throughout through the Holocaust and the concentration camps working in the camps. Her name is Ibolya Dawidowicz (Ibi) Ginsburg. Ibi Ginsburg is born in Hungary with her family. Ibi was born on June 7,1924 in Hungary. Ibi was born in the city of Tokaj,Hungary in Europe.
She had no idea about the Holocaust, and wouldn't relate her experiences to it until after it was over. She would relate to how she was “separated from our parents in order to survive”. 2. Just like how Ellie Weisel was separated from his mother and sisters in Night. If the idea that genocide is bad is not pushed, people will become desensitized to it and think it’s okay to revitalize genocide!
Most of you might not know. who Magda Brown is but she is a Holocaust survivor. Some of you might not know what the Holocaust is but let me explain. it is the time between 1933 to 1945 when Adolf Hitler killed at least 6 million jews. Their were so many laws passed to make life harder for jews.
Adolf hitler set up concentration camps to work jew to death or kill them right when they got there by making them “Shower” which was a gas chamber that killed them. At any point the nazi soldiers would accuse the jews for doing something they did not do so they sent them to a camp far worse than the one there were at “Convicted of forgery, aiding the enemy and attempted escape, the sisters were sent to separate prisons. Then in December 1943 Anita was told she was being moved to Auschwitz. She was aware what that meant. “You knew about the gas chambers in Auschwitz long before one was in Auschwitz,” Anita told me.”
