There is a very important person named Elie Wiesel. Elie Wiesel was a very important person that was in the Holocaust. He has wrote a book called “Night” describing his time during the Holocaust in (1941-1945). Throughout the Holocaust a lot of his life has changed. Elie Wiesel has a normal life before he went into the Holocaust.
The Holocaust was a horrible event where the Nazis killed six million Jews and five million Gentiles. One of the most celebrated survivors of this awful event and the winner of the 1986 Nobel Peace Prize, Eliezer Wiesel, wrote a memoir about the event called Night, where you can see Elie changes throughout his years in the Holocaust. Elie’s horrid traumatic experiences from the Holocaust altered his relationship with God and his physical appearance. Because of the Holocaust, Elie’s relationship with God adjusted.
In the book Night by Elie Wiesel, the author writes about his experiences as a Jewish prisoner in concentration camps during the Holocaust. Wiesel was only 15-years-old when he was forced out of his home in Sighet and deported to Auschwitz along with his family in May 1944. By the time Buchenwald concentration camp was liberated in April 1945, Wiesel already had major experiences that greatly affected his life. Wiesel’s experiences drastically change his character as a human being to help him deal with evil as a survivor of the Jewish holocaust.
Elie Wiesel’s Night described his life during World War II. His experience and situation forced him to adapt and persevere which changed Elie’s being as whole. Throughout his experience from living in Sighet to his liberation at Buchenwald, Elie’s religious belief and identity changed dramatically as he endured. While Elie was living in Sighet during the beginning of the book, he was a very strong believer in his faith and he was very interested and dedicated to learning about his religion and this can be seen in the first few chapters of the book. In fact in the beginning of the book Elie asks his father “ When can I get a master to guide me in my studies?
Eva Kor and Elie Wiesel, two survivors of the Holocaust, were also activists within the Jewish community. They were known outside of their communities for spreading inspirational speeches and ideologies to heal and overcome the experiences of the Holocaust. Even though Eva Kor and Elie Wiesel’s ideas and motivations were different, they had the same effect on people in and outside of their communities. After all, they were both able to leave lasting impressions on the world. Elie Wiesel focused on telling his story, and describing how he survived the traumatic event through his memoir, Night, that demonstrated his perseverance through the Holocaust.
Religion can be compared to sprinting in a race, it is necessary to have the fortitude and forbearance, but out of all things, you need to contain leadership abilities. The book “Night” by Elie Wiesel exemplifies how fortitude aids in overcoming even the most gruesome events. This type of bravery is attained by the Jewish religion. This religion is grounded in structure and the German Nazis took it away from Jews thus making a plethora of them lose or question their belief in God. In the novel, The author's own faith starts to lose momentum when witnessing the agonizing death of countless innocent lives, the brutal status of their domain, and mayhem brought forth because of persecution.
Throughout the book Night by Elie Wiesel, Wiesel tells the readers of the pain and horror he experienced while imprisoned by Nazis during the holocaust. Wiesel talks about the concentration camps, and how some of the people were nice, and some were mean. He explains the challenges they overcame, and the horrors that they saw. Over the course of the novel, Elie goes through numerous changes including losing his mom and sister, when he no longer feared death, and he went from being religious to not even knowing if there is a god. Throughout the memoir, Elie changed a lot.

Elie is victorious because he went through many tough events throughout the camp, yet he survived. When Wiesel first arrived at Auschwitz, his mother, Sarah (Feig) Weisel and younger sister, Tzipora Wiesel were murdered almost immediately, and Eliezer was pushed around and beaten to get in line.
“The Holocaust was the state-sponsored persecution and mass murder of millions of European Jews, Romani people, the intellectually disabled, political dissidents and homosexuals by the German Nazi regime between 1933 and 1945.” With all this horror going on, the innocent people who were trapped in these camps tried their best to keep their faith in God and find hope in times of despair. A Book that shows finding hope in times of despair is Night by Elie Wiesel. This book summarizes the Holocaust and the innocent people trying to find hope and keep their faith in God. The Memoir Night has numerous examples of finding hope in dark times.
Hate can cause one's beliefs to change. In the memoir Night by Elie Wiesel, he shares his experiences in the Nazi concentration camp as a teenager and how he manages to survive with his father after being separated from the rest of his family until the very end. In Night, Wiesel reflects on how hatred can change people’s perspectives, especially on religion. Before being taken away to the Nazi concentration camps, Elie Wiesel was a deeply religious person, and after what he experienced during the Holocaust, he no longer has a strong belief in Judaism. Before the Holocaust, Wiesel was a deeply religious person who couldn't even fathom why he wouldn’t pray.
Night is not merely just about a little boy during the awful time in the holocaust, it’s about how one would be able to endure all of the pain and yet not lose sight of their faith or religion. The main character is Eliezer’s. Eliezer is the son of the man i don’t remember but anyway eliezer is a jew in a concentration camp which is awful. In the story the reader will see from from eliezer’s perspective because while he is experiencing these events he thinks about it in his mind so psychological he will explain what’s happening in the camp.
Oftentimes, the effects of traumatic experiences can transcend the importance or the gravity of original beliefs. With every passing day, Elie is seeing more and more innocent infants, children, men, and women dying all around him, simultaneously. However, as the survivors around him congregate and continue to pray to God on their own volition he is thoroughly confused. With the amount of deaths around him, he questions everything, and thinks aloud.
Elie Wiesel & Religion “Human suffering anywhere concerns men and women everywhere.” Elie Wiesel is the first person alive to receive a nobel peace prize on the topic of genocide and the remembrance. Elie strongly believes in keeping the memory of the Holocaust in our brains, not only just because it is history it’s also a lesson to us all. Genocide happens all over the world almost everyday, All of us together as whole need to learn from the past. Otherwise more and more this world will become dark almost like night.
Imagine believing so strongly in something and then being let down, or thinking that you were wrong to believe. In Night by Elie Wiesel, Elie felt as though he had lost his religion and beliefs. “I believed profoundly. During the day I studied the Talmud, and at night I ran to the synagogue to weep of the destruction of the Temple,” (Wiesel, 14). This quote shows how strongly he believed before experiencing the hardships of the Holocaust
When is the breaking point of giving up on religion? Religion is something that explains where people came from, why people are here and what happen when people die. However religion also requires faith for what you believe in. One person who has trouble with is faith is Elie Wiesel. Elie born in a Jewish family wanted to learn more about Judaism.
