Maya Angelou was a strong woman who stood for bravery.The author was born on April 4, 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri. (¨Maya¨) In her early years, her parents divorced which caused her to move into her grandmother's house. (Skinner) Around age eight, Maya Angelou was raped while visiting her mother in St. Louis.(Skinner) Shortly after, the rapist was convicted and then murdered by a family member of Maya´s.
