"Angelou made an effect on American culture that transcended her soaring poetry and searing memoirs"(Peace). Among the many great speakers, such as Marin Luther King, Rosa Parks, and Malcolm who had a great role in influencing on the lives, Maya Angelou caused an empowering impact on the lives in America equal to those black leaders had during this time period. Maya Angelou was not known for being a poet, novelist, educator, producer, actor, musician and civil right activist like one of the leading negro activist, but also as one of the most renowned and influential voices. She has fought carefully against sexism, racism, and segregation without giving up. She does everything with passion and completes confidence. Angelou contributes ideas for her passion. "Life is going to give you just what you put in it. Put your whole heart in everything you do and prayed, then you can wait"(Leopold). From the quote, she wants to tell directly to everyone that if people want to make, put everything they have into whatever they do. Angelou wants to remind everyone to live a life with passion. This can see through all of her life, works, change, love, and everything. Angelou recognized and respected as a spokesperson for black women. She makes black people know that they are similar to white people. They were the same have the rights (Peace). She describes the racist and sexual pressures put on black women during the time when she was a girl. Maya Angelou speaks out to the world to let everyone know about what she thinks and how she feels when white people does not treat her so well as white people treat their people. She speaks out change people's think about radical justice. She wants everyone to treat equally. "Angelou was a phenomenal woman of insight, eloquence, and artistry who gave voice to the rawness and the loftiness of history and humanity"(Peace). Maya Angelou considered phenomenal women because of her constant ability to inspire others. Her successful poetry “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" which talks about the struggles of the African-American. She used her autobiography to speak out to the world about identity, rape, and racism (Leopold). Her poetry helps to spread the word of equality to African-American women. In the book, she tells about her life when she faced with racism and segregation at a very young age. She uses her poetry to let everyone in the world to recognize how African-American people live and pass their life in racism period. "Hoping for the best, prepared for the worst, and unsurprised by anything between"(Leopold). Maya Angelou teaches everyone to be solid through any tribulation and never falter. She teaches that everyone should not let the bad things get in their way. She writes several volumes of poetry that explored the South, radical confrontation, and the triumph of black people against overwhelming odds. Angelou also works to bring more realistic portrayals of African-Americans in film and television screens (Leopold). She uses her own personal background to inspire everyone to be strong.
