Neubauer, she is a scholar and writes critic that interviewed Maya Angelou. This is intended for the public to see. In this interview, Neubauer asks Maya Angelou some questions about her writing style and technique. Angelou’s response is that she is inspired by other activists such as MLK, Malcolm X, Frederick Douglass and more. She says that she loved the writing style of Douglass’ slave narrative and slave narratives as a whole. Furthermore, she goes on about trying to create her own voice. In this interview, Maya Angelou explains her reasons for beginning to jump into the artistic society. She enjoys life and wants to express her feelings and thoughts into her artwork. She loves to be happy and has known from the early years of her life that she wanted to become an artist.
