Meriwether Lewis, half of the Lewis and Clark duo, did not commit suicide, but was murdered in cold blood.

Unfortunately, Meriwether Lewis was previously suicidal, and possibly had several mental illnesses. He allegedly tried to commit suicide multiple times during the Corps of Discovery. Lewis was also believed to have had depression or an anxiety disorder.

Meriwether Lewis was shot twice; once in the head and another time in the chest (B4).
The gun used was a .69 caliber pistol.
To shoot himself twice, Lewis, who was known to carry only one pistol and one rifle, would have to had shot himself in the head with his .69 caliber pistol, reloaded, then continued to shoot himself in the chest (B3).
The angle at which the bullet entered his cranium was parallel to the ground, entering from the front of his head.
The angle that the gun must have been held at would have been awkward.
Lewis physically could not have moved his arm into the position it must have been in order to achieve that angle (H5). He would have had to turn the gun completely around for it to face the front of his head, bending his arm at a 90 degree angle, with his wrist facing away from his head. .
