Selena Quintanilla’s greatest contribution were improving the Latin music industry by creating unique Tejano beats and bringing joy to the Latino community with her songs. Selena Quintanilla first started her career at a young age in her father's band “Los Dinos”. Los Dinos performed in a variety of events like weddings and parties. Los Dinos became known around the city , Selena Quintanilla's father dropped Selena out of school to continue to perform with the band.
She could do what they do but it would be hard for them to do what she does". Later in 1990 came back an addition to the band Chris Perez who was a talented guitarist who then eventually became Selena's husband. She did so many tremendous things, influenced so many people, and made such a big impact in the music industry. Selena mainly focused on Mexican music when she first started. She did not always stick to her Mexican culture and Mexican music though. This is the story and background of Selena Quintanilla-Perez.
By June 11, 1986, Selena y Los Dinos released the group’s third album, and their fame began to increase. 1986-1988 Selena won the Tejano Music Awards prize for female vocalist of the year for the first time and she captured the honor every year. In concert, Selena’s sexy bustiers and taunting and her pouty smiles earned her the nickname “the Tex-Mex Madonna.” Mid-1991 Selena and Chris Perez, who had recently began playing guitar, they admitted they had romantic feelings for each other, and their relationship began. April 2, 1992 they got married.
Not only is Selena still being talked about today because of her legacy and the music that she left, but also because of situations like these. Without the concern and curiosity about where the money her family makes from her past-life collaborations, there would be no talk about Selena, meaning that slowly she would stop being a popular topic. As the years go on there will probably more Selena collaborations whether it be makeup or events like Fiesta De Flor. As of this moment there is not a lot of big named artists who are chasing the Tejano Queen name, meaning that Selena still remains #1. It all started when Selena sang the song “Blue Moon” in front of her father. Abraham, her father, instantly knew that she had talent. Taking ahold of this opportunity, he created a band consisting of Selena, Suzette (his other daughter), and A.B. (his son). Selena y los Dinos started by playing in a restaurant that their father opened up.
All of her albums sold out in large numbers, making Selena successful with her music. I look up to Selena Quintanilla-Perez as my role model. It took a lot of hard work and courage for her to become a successful Mexican-American artist. As a Mexican-American woman, she broke barriers and made recording history with her music. She changed Latino music by combining different genres in her music to connect with other cultures besides her own.
Selena Quintanilla Pérez was a successful tejano singer. Her life was influenced by music. Unfortunately, she passed away at a young age. Selena was one of the first female tejano singers to find success. She accomplished many great achievements in her short lifetime.
Can you imagine how much courage and strength it takes to fight your way through a world where being a Tejano singer as a woman is unfathomable? Selena Quintanilla did just that, struggling through her hero’s journey fighting sexism, discrimination, and camouflaged betrayal to rise to stardom and persevere, paving a path of hope for the millions of women she inspired and becoming a beacon in the evolution of the female industry. Even though her life was cut short she continues to live in the hearts of Latino and American community. Selena is a pop icon that has influence me and others because she broke a lot of barriers and had a major impact on the Latino community.
Selena Quintanilla-Pérez was accomplished many things in her life. She was a fashion designer, boutique owner, spokesperson, actress, and probably her most successful endeavor was her music career. Selena was often known as the the Queen of Tejano music. Making herself well known in a genre of music dominated mostly by men. She was arguably one of the most successful women singers to live.
