Social classes of the Renaissance are much different than the social classes of the 21st century. Find out what life would be like in the Renaissance from many different perspectives. The peasants and commoners were on the bottom of the social ranks during the Renaissance. Peasants and commoners were made up of the farmers and workers. The farmers or husbandman had enough food for the family and the leftovers were sold on the market for other necessities(social structure). Most husbandman lived on an average of 30 acre farms and made about 15£ a year and about 3£ after selling the leftovers(social structure). The cottagers were the lowest of peasants, because they had to work for other men for their wages(social structure). That is what life would be like in comparison to a labor worker or a slave. The gentries of the Renaissance were the law enforcers of the towns. Gentries did not have a title or name like royalty or nobility, but people knew who they were.
