Almost everybody loves Disney stories. Many of us were raised on Disney from films to rides. These stories engulfed our minds into new and exciting worlds. They broadened our imagination and helped us thin outside the box. But who is behind the visuals of these stories?
One of 1950’s most popular movies that is still around today is Cinderella, which is about “a beautiful young girl is forced into virtual slavery by her cruel, exploitative stepmother and jealous stepsisters” (“Cinderella” 2). In 1950 most movies and shows were based off a happy life and kept to the same generic styles. However, when Walt Disney released a spin on style and portrayed uniqueness with Cinderella, it roared with popularity. Cinderella sparked the movement for Disney and his successful company. Following the massive success of the famous fairytale, “he also had the foresight to pioneer ancillary merchandise and music rights from the film into major money makers, thus financing his ultimate dream project: the construction of Disneyland” (“Cinderella” 3).
As Walt Disney stated, “We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things…” In the upcoming years, Disney World is pursuing additions to the park and the Imagineers are currently constructing The Land of Avatar, Star Wars Land, and Toy Story Land. It is also still functional and is still continuously operating. This specific part of Disneyland is the opposite of Tomorrowland and rather displays the old more country style of life.
Hello, my name is Olivia Davis, and I am here to share about one of my most favorite places in the world: Disneyland! In this presentation, I will help you to experience the magic of Disneyland’s beauty, and appreciate its deeper levels of societal-contributions. Disneyland- located in Anaheim, CA- is one of the most architecturally distinguished and fantastical theme parks in the whole country, and, in my opinion, the whole world! (See picture of Cinderella’s castle.) The architecture is the first thing that greets you when coming into the park, and it seems like the classic “Cinderella’s Castle” stands proud to smile at you as you come into the park.
Disney Land opened with extreme expectations, but the amount of people there and the hours spent trying to get in took a toll on the excitement. Counterfeit tickets, lack of food, and running out of water on a 100-degree day in California where all negative influences on the theme parks opening days. Though even with this catastrophic opening, Disney Land remains open today, as the SMALLER of the two theme parks, with Disney World opening much later in October of 1971. Despite the rough opening of Disney Land and the difficulty it had, Disney remains today to be extremely powerful as an entertainment company owning billions of dollars’ worth of product. Disney has a major impact on today’s culture with their movies, TV shows, and their parks.

For examples, the offerings include transportation, resort accommodations, and meal plans. The larger product mix creates entry into the resort, hotel, and restaurant businesses. Although Disney was not first in the theme park market, its large size and connection to kid ’s movies was revolutionary.
Long before it was commonplace in American business to outsource manufacturing, Disney was setting the precedent for what would one day be a normal competitive practice. In addition to cheaper manufacturing, Disney’s division of labor practices have given them a financially competitive edge in their global operations. Disney is very strict on their practice of having the American company members do the intellectual and artist work of the company. However, in many areas they take full advantage of the cheap labor available to do the labor intensive work in both the manufacturing sector and the theme park sector (Tracy, 1999).
