Upward Bound Math and Science Upward Bound Math and Science is a program designed to strengthen the math and science skills of students in 9th to12th grade and generates the skills necessary for post-secondary programs leading to science, technology, engineering and math careers. I have always been interested in careers with a focus on math and science. Growing up I always wanted to be a scientist, but as I grow and leaned more what I want and be when I grow up changes more often, as a now I want and be a Biotechnologist. This was going to be my first time at a beach since I moved to the United States. Everybody was excited for Virginia Beach. Because I was born at the Dominican Republic and the beaches I used and go and were always the same, sky blue water, tall palm trees, warm sand. I was expecting Virginia Beach and be the same. However, it wasn’t. When I got there I was disappointed. I do not remember seeing any palm trees, the water was extremely salty and brown and the sand was extremely too hot and walk on. My junior year we were blessed with a week field trip and Disney World. It was an exciting experience because it was so of my friends first time on a plane. We got and visit all of the parks. We met people from other states only a few people knew about Delaware. We had the opportunity to go backstage and learn about filming and how the roller coasters work. There were professionals telling us about the math and science behind the “magic” of Disney World. Not everybody is able to live this experience and be allowed in the park before they are open and the
