The American and French Revolutions were large events in the world's history. They influenced each other and impacted history for centuries to come. The Enlightenment effected the Revolutions, and they effected each other in a domino affect. The peak of big revolutions has altered the course of Europe and the rest of the world heavily. The Enlightenment and American and French Revolutions have affected the world in ways that are still ongoing even today. The Enlightenment has changed the way that nations think and conduct themselves. The American Revolution was caused by the Scientific Revolution and the Enlightenment. The Scientific Revolution and Enlightenment changed how people see religion, as people were more capable of reading the Bible

The American Revolution was brought on by Enlightenment values created by John Locke, Rousseau, Francis Bacon, Voltaire, and Descartes. The values conflicted religious values in France and Europe as a whole. The American colonies adopted the values, which they used for the basis of their soon to be newly formed nation. The French also used these same values after the Storming of the Bastille. They took the idea of Democracy and the word of the common people over that of only the country's nobles and the clergy. The American Revolution effected the French Revolution by showing that such a task as throwing over a monarch isn't entirely impossible. They also acted as an influence because of their political beliefs and mostly secular style of governing themselves.
