The Middle Colonies are located in between the New England and Southern Colonies. The Middle Colonies consist of New York founded in 1624, Delaware in 1638, Pennsylvania in 1643, and New Jersey in 1660. These four colonies were different, economically and socially, in many ways because they got a mix of the other two colonies and made it their own. New York was founded the British acquired more land from the Dutch. New York was called New Netherlands and was ruled by the Dutch governor Peter Stuyvesant before the British took it over.
During the colonization of the New World, there were many overlapping land grants given to the colonies. Due to these overlapping land grants, there were many boundary disputes between the different colonies. One such example could be seen between the colonies of Connecticut and Pennsylvania with the Wyoming Valley. The Wyoming Valley is a large area of land “adjacient to the River Susqueannah between the forty first and forty third degrees of North Latitude” which has been described as being very beautiful. The boundary dispute between the two colonies led to a series of wars dubbed the Yankee-Pennamite Wars.
The colonists were taking the Native American's property and taking advantage of the native Americans in the trade by getting them drunk so they could get more land. King Philip, the religious leader the Native Americans.

The United States of America was once a divided North America. There were the New England Colonies, the Middle Colonies, and the Southern Colonies. Which were all formed in the 1700’s. Although these colonies were soon to be one big country, They had lots of differences and similarities, Like their people, land, and economics. One of the many similarities between the colonies is that they all practiced religion, mostly Christian.
The New York colony soil was fertile and great for farming which was the reason the British wanted to remove it from the hands of the Dutch. New York was named after James the Duke of York. The Dutch were the first to settle in New York but then was preccoupied by the English in 1674. When the Dutch occupied New York they called it New Amsterdam.
The main river and the land around it that made its course of through New York was given to wealthy stockholders, who brought fifty families over. The middle colonies were roughly made up of New York, New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. Unlike the Puritan self government in New England, the council had almost all the power to originate the laws, and the people often failed when it came to amend them. Pennsylvania had amazing diversity and the middle colonies became known as the bread basket of the rest of the colonies. This is
There has been a lot of changes throughout New Amsterdam history. In 1609 until the year of 1664 there has been dramatic changes in history that has brought the country together in unity overtime. During this time in history many explorers had sailed across the ocean in hopes of discovering something that no one else had before. One such explorer was Henry Hudson, who went on an expedition to find a faster route to supplies that he and other people in the New Netherlands needed. Hudson made his first voyage from England in 1607 where he then tried to find a “shorter route around to Asia from Europe and through the Arctic Ocean” (History, 2009).
Would you rather live in a world filled with disorder or a world with opportunities of having a successful life? Around the 1600s to the late 1700s, many people moved from England to the colonies. They came for multiple purposes- to fix their political, economic, religious, and social difficulties. The main reason that people moved to the colonies was because of social reasons, some include moving away from class discrimination, joining family, as well as inviting others to join by laying out inviting and fair rules to persuading others to come. The first reason why people wanted to leave England was because of class discrimination.
The Dutch were the first to settle in New York in 1624. Two years later they made the colony New Amsterdam on Manhattan Island. In the year 1664 the English took control of the colony and renamed it New York after the Duke of York. Although the Netherlands only controlled the Hudson River Valley from 1609 until 1664, in that time, Dutch entrepreneurs established New Netherland, a series of trading posts, towns, and forts up and down the Hudson River that laid the groundwork for towns that still exist today. The slow expansion of New Netherland, however, caused conflicts with both English colonists and Native Americans in the region.
With the Native Americans out of the way, the only conflicts now had been between the English and settlers from other outside lands in a less-bloodied battle for American soil. , as white people began to rule the lands of the New World. The location of the Middle Colonies had some better advantages than other colony locations, as the climate was better, especially for growing crops, along with more nourishing and fertile soil. One place in particular, New Amsterdam, along with New Netherlands, had become more of an egalitarian society, strictly by accident for most colonies were not welcoming of diversity, whether it be of place of origin or religion. New Amsterdam was founded by the Dutch, and ended up becoming home to many, such as the Quakers,
