Palina Hornaya Chapters 9 and 10: The French Revolution and Napoleonic Europe Theme: France, although it was one of the most advanced countries in Europe, quickly fell due to the Enlightenment ideas and people’s critical perspective of their government and society. When Napoleon Bonaparte came to power, he ended the revolution through reforms, and created a French Empire. His political unity and great military skills led to more modern and enlightened reforms in Europe. Subtheme: BACKGROUNDS 1.
The National Assembly and the National Convention both appeared during the French Revolution. The National Convention served to govern France in a critical time of the French Revolution and created a constitution, whereas the National Assembly formed to help with the social issues in France. The National Assembly also helped with financial issues such as taxes and national debt after the Estates-General being called to handle the tax problems had failed, and the need for something new became apparent. Although the National Assembly and the National Convention had been assembled for different specific purposes, they had similarities in the fact that they both were formed for the greater good of France, they both faced opposition from King Louis
After the Treaty of Versailles was signed in 1919, World War One was over. The countries were trying to fix the problems that had led to WW1. The countries created a League of Nations to try to prevent other countries from fighting each other. Although different countries tried to reduce their militaries, mankind failed to address problems from World War One because they blamed the war on Germany, plus the league of nations was too weak to prevent international aggression.
So in an attempt to avoid future conflict of the same scale, the Allies allowed the Central Powers no participation in the treaty’s negotiations, stripped Germany of many of its territories, blamed it for the war, and imposed substantial reparation payments. However, although the Allies were hopeful that these measures would ensure peace in the future, the Versailles Treaty has been cited as a

At the end of the French revolution in 1815, there were many political short-term and long-term outcomes. The new constitution was abolished by the National Convention because the European nobility feared the spread of their revolutionary ideas. Napoleon Bonaparte sold Louisiana to US for fifteen million, which became a long term effect because the US still owns Louisiana and the other west states. One short term outcome occurred when the church land was sold and then afterwards, the Pope had to fight for his religious views and places back. Some long-term outcomes were that feudalism ended for good, a new declaration was adopted, and the citizens became equal socially.

The type of peace, temporary or more permanent, depends on how long it will last as conflict is a part of human nature, leading to the conclusion peace can lead to war. A temporary peace can be compared to putting a band-aid over a bullet hole; it might hold and stop the blood on the surface but there’s much more damage in the inside. The Treaty of Versailles was a band-aid to the other world problems after WW1. First when the treaty was being written the US, Britain and France could not agree to which degree the terms against Germany should be.
One of the earliest causes of the Allied Powers victory was the failure of the German Schlieffen Plan. Its aim was to occupy the France, coming through the Belgium, and then, when these would be under their control, it would create one big front to fight with Russia. Unfortunately, everything went wrong, Belgium soldiers were extremely brave, what delayed the German advance. Germany did not manage to break through to France as quickly as it intented to. Due to the "Treaty of London", which guaranteed the independence of Belgium, Britain declared war on Germany.
The Treaty Of Versailles ended the war between Germany and the Allied Powers. The League of Nation was “The agreement or “covenant” to establish the League, written into the treaty, embodied Wilson’s vision of a new world order of peace and justice.” (pg.689). The treaty imposed economic provisions to defeat Germany. Economically, supply and demand increased and government agencies were established.
In the text, “Mother Tongue” by Amy Tan, Tan reminisces a particular speech she is giving towards a crowd and in this crowd contains her mother. At some point she suddenly realizes that the type of language she is using is quite different than when speaking directly to her mother; Understanding the complexity of it, she decides to ultimately change her ways by changing the type of English she uses- that of which she was accustomed to using with her mother. After noticing several similarities, I decided that “Mother Tongue” was a great text to relate to: the (unable to speak English) parent, the struggle to translate or talk in their place, and the dislike for writing. Although it was not a call to a broker, I recall having to speak to a few representatives sometimes not even knowing why or who I
In the four years leading up to World War One for example, France had nine different governments.
Introduction World War I came to an end with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles on June 28, 1919. The treaty was signed to create lasting peace. The treaty was negotiated between the three allied powers of Britain, France and the United States with no participation from Germany. The treaty 's negotiations revealed a split between the three allied powers with France intending to weaken Germany in such a manner that it would make it impossible for it to renew hostilities. However, Britain and the United States objected to some of the provisions because of the fear that it would be a pretext for another war.
