The EPA stands for The United States Environmental Protection Agency, and was created to protect human health and the environment. It was founded on December 2, 1970, by Richard Nixon. He created the EPA to fix national guidelines, monitor and enforce them. The EPA’s first impact was the Clean Air Act (1970), it was created to control air pollution from vehicles and industry factories.Other things passed by the EPA are, Federal Environmental Pesticide Control Act (1972) and the Clean Water Act (1972). The EPA’s first success was by creating an agreement with automobile companies to lessen the emission of unburned hydrocarbons by 85%. In 1980 the pollution levels improved by half in major cities. These contributions are important, because the
