He also used information from the several annual reports of the Council on Environmental Quality starting in 1970, and cites as so. In his notes at the bottom of his work, he added that the feels the best overall source of information about the Nixon Administration’s environmental record was from these annual reports. He includes direct quotations from Nixon himself, from Nixon’s message transmitting his plans to establish the EPA and NOAA to congress. These quotes were taken from Reorganization Plan No. 3. To further show how Nixon’s environmental work is often overlooked, Train makes mention of the book Nixon himself wrote, In the Arena, where he briefly mentioned his work with the environment in the footnote.
In 1980 when Ronald Reagan became the president for the first time that a president was able to put some kind of regulations on the agencies. President Reagan cut the agency budget in an effort to force both agencies to lay-off staff members and limit their activities. For a short time, due to this executive order and the 12291 Executive Order, new regulations declined sharply. This was the first time that any president was able to put any kind of regulations and control of the agencies.
This source presents research and case studies to acknowledge that this debate of job creation vs environmental regulation is complex and need to be analyzed and interpreted from many different angles to realize the various effects created by these two opposing viewpoints. One study shows how the Clean Air Act caused a job loss of 600,000, but at the same time, reduced the infant mortality rate and increased housing prices, thus creating a wealth effect for the real estate market. It is mentioned that one data point (such as job loss, improved health, etc..) should not
The air pollution increase the risk of getting cancer, heart attack, and respiratory problems. EDF have been trying to solve air pollution problems for years, and it eventually reduce the emission of car and the sulfur content of gasoline. They tries to make the new generation of cars to produce less carbon monoxide. Even though oil and gas industry strongly reject the idea of lowering standard, some place already lower their emission standard for car. The standard of emission car had rise did not solve the problem itself.

The protection of environment is crucial to the wellbeing of this planet. The job of government is to protect and preserve the land on which its people live. However, there is a bill being considered that completely goes against this, one that calls for the eradication of the Environmental Protection Agency, a government program created to protect human and environmental wellbeing through their regulation of laws. I urge you to oppose bill H.R. 861 - the termination of the Environmental Protection Agency - because of the ways that the EPA protects air, water, and land.
It required the Environmental Protection Agency to develop and enforce regulations to protect the public potent air quality which could be hazardous to human health. The Clean Water act established a basic structure for regulating pollution which is discharged into the waters of states in the United States. This act also Gave EPA the authority to implement pollution control programs. As a result of the “Silent Spring,” federal legislations were passed as a call to action to change the habits of humans before we destroy the thing that gives us all

Many laws, and restrictions have been passed over the last few decades, restricting manufactures to specific requirements for their emissions, vehicles in general, and even the gasoline that they run on, with requirements for detergents and such,. Unfortunately, it is claimed that these systems don’t have big enough impact on lowering the environmental problem, due to the amount of vehicles out there. Luckily, since electric vehicles are becoming more affordable, practical, and appealing, the amount of problems associated with the amount of claimed pollution will
The reading assignments for this week has been very educative about the environment and making it a better place for living. In this written assignment, I will examine some of the ethical issues related to population growth and their effect to the environment. Also, I will propose solutions to these problems base on the reading material available for this Unit. But before I continue, I wish to introduce us to environmental ethics and its definition which I think it is very important for us to understand so as to know our role to play in this beautiful planet. Environmental ethics is the discipline in philosophy that studies the moral relationship of human beings to, and also the value and moral status of, the environment and its non-human contents
Introduction: Our earth is the most precious gift of the universe. It is the sustenance of ‘nature’ that is the key to the development of the future of mankind. It is the duty and responsibility of each one of us to protect nature. It is here that the understanding of the ‘environment’ comes into the picture. The degradation of our environment is linked with the development process and the ignorance of people about retaining the ecological balance.
