The fall of the Aztec empire was one of the most important events in the history of South America. The main elements of worldview that resulted in the downfall of the Aztec empire were beliefs, economy, and knowledge.
Firstly, the Spanish defeated the Aztecs in battle. But they still weren’t satisfied. They wanted to make sure that their religion was the dominant one. So Spanish priests used Aztec children to destroy sacred temples and burn codices. They did this to eradicate Aztec culture and bring upon the christian faith in New Spain.
Secondly, after forcing them to change their religion, the Spanish also forced the Aztecs to become a part of the encomienda system. In this system the Spanish are at the top and the Aztecs are at the bottom.
